Grandmom Wins ANOTHER $1 Million At The Same Store 20 Years Later

The odds of winning again were enormous, acknowledged Massachusetts woman Constance Carpenito.

In a remarkable coincidence a Stoneham grandmother won $1 million - again - at the same store where she had won it 20 years ago.

She played the same game both times, the Massachusetts State Lottery “$10,000,000 Diamond Millionaire” scratch-off game. Last time the ticket cost $5, this time it was $20.

The $1 million jackpot prize wasn't all though.

She won the million-dollar jackpot just six weeks after scoring $20,000 from a different card purchased at the supermarket.

Constance Carpenito has been playing the lottery at the Stop & Shop in Stoneham ever since a $5 ticket got her a $1million prize in 1996.

“I’m lucky, what can I say?” Constance Carpenito told the Boston Herald with a laugh. “You’ve got to be lucky to win a million twice.”

Carpenito chose the cash option on her prize and received a one-time payment of $650,000. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for its sale.

“Ever since I hit the million I’ve been playing at my lucky store once a week and it’s really paid off,” Carpenito said. “Every week I play my $20.”

Stop & Shop spokesman Phil Tracey called Carpenito 'one lucky lady.'

Carpenito said she will use her winnings to ensure her three children and five grandchildren have an extra-special Christmas this year.
